In fact, ants are very fond of aphid colonies. They particularly love honeydew, the sugary substance that is produced by aphids, and so they protect the aphid colonies. They protect them by producing formic acid, which they spray onto predators, such as ladybirds, but also other insects that are also predators of aphids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To effectively control aphids, it is really important to prevent as much as possible ants from getting near the aphid colonies.
